Rainey Farmhouse

Rainey Farmhouse, Conc. 10 West Half, Part Lot 25.

Built in 1855 for John Dodds, of Scottish and Irish descent, and Emily Webb, a Pennsylvania Quaker, this farmhouse is a classic example of the evolution of a mid-19th century ontario vernacular farm residence. The original red brick building displays regency style details with its centre hall plan and its symmetrical windows and chimneys. The local fieldstone and board and batten additions demonstrate the growing prosperity of the farm and its owners. From 1849 to present day, six generations of the Dodds family and their Rainey descendants have lived on this property.Rainey Farmhouse Image
