Development charges provide for the recovery of growth-related capital expenditures from new development. The Development Charges Act, 1997, is the statutory basis to recover these charges. They are also levied on residential, industrial, commercial and institutional development at either subdivision approval or at building permit issuance in accordance with the Township's current by-law.
