The Planning Act authorizes the Council of The Corporation of the Township of King to appoint members to the Committee who are responsible for hearing applications which consider various matters related to land use. The mandate of the Committee is to consider planning applications which include minor variances, consents (severances), leases for more than 21 years and validation of title. Committee members are to evaluate applications for consistency with the intent of various planning documents including the Greenbelt Plan; the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan; Provincial Policy Statement (PPS); Township of King Official Plan and Zoning By-law.
There are twelve (12) Committee meetings scheduled throughout the year which are open to the public and are typically held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Offices.
The Committee of Adjustment & Property Standards Committee term runs concurrent with Council.
